Peter Murdoch

A photograph of a portrait of Peter Murdoch (1670-1761). The painting was by an unknown artist.

Murdoch was a prominent merchant and sugar refiner who had a share in the King Street Sugar Works. He served as Lord Provost (1730 and 1731) as did his son, the tobacco merchant John Murdoch (elected in 1746, 1750 and 1758).
