Tenement Alteration

An elevation and plans by James Lindsay showing proposed alterations to tenements at numbers 19 to 21 Abbotsford Place in Laurieston in May 1898. The drawing was commissioned by the apartment owner, Miss Helen McClure. Lindsay had offices at 248 West George Street and designed Wellfield and Wellshot Public Schools.

The alterations involved dividing the existing second floor flat into two separate apartments and adding a shared toilet adjacent to the stairwell. As a result, one of the original bedrooms would have to be converted into a kitchen. There is a note on the drawing specifying that the new partition in the lobby should be made from fire-proof material.
