The Council Hall Staircase in Glasgow City Chambers from the ground floor, 1888. The staircase (to the right) could be accessed from the Loggia or entrance hall which can be seen through the door in the centre of this image.
This staircase was, like the Banqueting Hall Staircase, built and decorated with marble and alabaster. The two staircases meet on the second floor in a hall which is 164 feet long. The ceiling above the staircase is decorated with ornamental canvas plaster and the whole area is lit by a stained glass dome directly above.
