Lord Provost Robert Gray receiving his invitation to the opening night of the King's Theatre's 1987 Christmas pantomime "Cinderella" from the show's star Rikki Fulton. The occasion, featured in Glasgow City Council's newspaper The Bulletin, was the opening of an extension to the Council's computerised ticket system which linked the various theatres in the city to a single database in the City Halls.
Actor and commedian Rikki Fulton (1924-2004) was born in Dennistoun. He became a popular pantomime actor in the 1950s and from 1960 was best-known for his character Josie in the double act "Francie and Josie" with Jack Milroy. His BBC Scotland sketch show Scotch and Wry each Hogmanay became a national institution, in which Fulton created another famous comic character as the lugubrious Reverend I M Jolly. Fulton also appeared in films including Local Hero, Gorky Park and Comfort and Joy.
