Ladies' coats are illustrated in a sale catalogue issued by Pettigrew & Stephens in January 1933, for their department store in Sauchiehall Street.
A fashion forecast from Fortune Magazine at the time suggested: "Coats will be fitted, either bloused or caped, and as long as the dresses beneath them. Only in sporting coats will the three-quarter length be tolerated."
