The entrance hall to Bayne & Duckett's boot and shoe warehouse at the corner of Brunswick Street and Wilson Street, from a booklet issued by the firm on its opening in 1928. The hall is finished in cypress and mahogany.
The door on the extreme left leads to a reception room, where the manager and his assistants welcomed regular customers. The two parcel offices are next, one for the reception of incoming parcels, the other for the collection and parcelling of small orders which customers wished to take home. Beyond that is a showcase which displays the specialities of the firm, and access to the main staircase, leading to every department in the old warehouse and the extensions.
