There was a time when a piano was regarded as an essential item in middle class homes. This created a market for accessory furniture. The piano stool and duet stool illustrated here appeared in the 1920-1921 trade catalogue produced by the Springfield Chair Co to advertise products made at their factory in Millerfield Road, Dalmarnock. As well as providing seating, the elegant stools also had useful storage space for sheet music.
