Macfarlane's Castings

An example of a bath sold by Walter Macfarlane & Co, made at the Saracen Foundry, Possilpark. The illustration is from the firm's catalogue published in 1911, where the bath was advertised as having a sea green vitreous enamelled inside, and a painted outside with colour decoration.

A full specification is given elsewhere in this section of the catalogue, which also included sinks and wash-hand basins "for dwellings, public institutions, passenger vessels, &c." As market leaders in the field, Macfarlane's advised customers "Please insert in specification 'To be Macfarlane's castings, from Saracen Foundry, Glasgow,' to prevent an inferior article being supplied."
