William M Miller

William M Miller (b 1831?) was a music teacher and conductor at Glasgow Free Normal Seminary.

Miller taught music for several years before being appointed Music Master of the Glasgow Free Normal Seminary in 1874. In the following year he became Musical Director to the Glasgow School Board and he was also Inspector of Psalmody to the Church of Scotland. His particular interest was vocal music, and he formed a choral society which gave performances of oratorios in the city. He translated various oratorios into the Tonic Sol-fa Notation, harmonised numerous songs for school use and edited a compilation of sacred music.
