John Eadie

The Reverend Dr John Eadie (1813-1876) was Professor of Biblical Literature at the Divinity Hall of the United Presbyterian Church 1843-1876.

Born in Alva in Stirlingshire, Eadie studied at the University of Glasgow. He became minister of the Cambridge Street UP Church in 1834 and remained for twenty-five years until he and his congregation moved to the Lansdowne UP Church on Great Western Road.

Eadie published numerous books and tracts including a biblical encyclopaedia. He received the degree of LLD from the Universities of Glasgow and of St Andrews.
