James Torrens

James Torrens was a painter and decorator and a councillor, 1869-1884.

Torrens was best-known as a teetotaller and a lecturer in the Scottish Temperance League. In 1873 he campaigned to have Glasgow’s pubs close at 9pm, instead of 11pm.
