Robert Dalglish

Robert Dalglish (1808-1880) was a Glasgow MP.

Dalglish worked for the family firm of calico printers at Lennoxtown, R Dalglish, Falconer & Co. In 1857 he was elected to Parliament as an independent radical MP for Glasgow and he sat in the House until he retired in 1874. He was a great orator and in 1873 Vanity Fair described him as "the most popular Member of the House of Commons."

In 1853 Dalglish bought Kilmardinny House in Bearsden. He had a reputation for good living and entertaining lavishly both at home and in his London lodgings.
