George R Dalgleish, MA, FSAScot, was born in Galashiels and educated at Edinburgh University. He joined the staff of the then National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland in 1980, and is currently curator of Scottish Decorative Arts in the History & Applied Art Department of the National Museums of Scotland. He was recently involved in the creation of the 18th and 19th century displays of the new Museum of Scotland. His special interests include Scottish ceramics, clocks, Jacobite relics, pewter and silver on which he has published extensively.
