After attending Biggar High School in Lanarkshire Duncan M Dornan studied Agriculture at Edinburgh University. In 1983 he graduated with a B.Sc. honours degree. Following graduation he entered teaching working for 5 years at Norfolk College and then joining Aberdeen College. In 1999 he joined NMS as General Manager for the Museum of Scottish Country Life.
