Jan McDonald is Arnott Professor of Drama and Head of the Department of Theatre, Film and Television Studies at the University of Glasgow. Her principal research interests are in 19th and early 20th century drama and theatre and in Scottish theatre. She is currently Chair of the Citizens' Theatre, Glasgow and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh and of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.
