Eddie Friel is a native of Northern Ireland and was the first Chief Executive of the Greater Glasgow Tourist Board. He is credited with pursuing the policies that transformed Glasgow into the Cultural Capital of Europe. He is a Visiting Professor at the Scottish Hotel School at the University of Strathclyde.
