Bashir Maan came to Glasgow from Pakistan in 1953; has been involved in community work, race relations and politics locally and nationally; elected Glasgow City Councillor (first Muslim in UK) in 1970; has served as a Magistrate of the City, District Court Judge, Deputy Chairman of the Commission for Racial Equality, Convener Strathclyde Joint Police Board.
