Moss Lane, Crossmyloof

Moss Lane in Crossmyloof photographed by Duncan Brown in the 1880s or 1890s.

Moss Lane appears to be another name for Moss-Side Road. When Duncan Brown took this photograph the area was still semi-rural. To the left is a woman with a cow. Behind her, at the bottom of the lane, is a white-washed cottage with a thatched roof and a picket fence. A horse and cart is drawn up outside the cottage.

Duncan Brown (1819-1897) was a talented amateur photographer whose work documents aspects of Glasgow life from the 1850s until the 1890s.
