Mary Carmichael

Mary Carmichael, 1888.

Mary Carmichael ran the Crossburn Dairy in Cowcaddens along with her husband. In this studio photograph she poses in her working clothes (a striped apron and shorgan) with milk pails in the background.

Mary's childhood was said to have been a difficult one, due to her father's hard drinking. As a result she became involved in the Temperance movement.
