Baillie's buses

A fleet of Baillie's buses.

Baillie Brothers was an independent bus company which operated in the 1920s and 1930s around Glasgow. In the 1920s many bus operators were small firms with just one or two buses, and found it difficult to compete with the larger operators. Baillie Brothers was initially very sucessful, and by 1929 had a new fleet of Albion buses ready for the road. Competition from the Scottish Motor Traction Co (SMT) was fierce, however, and intensified during the 1930s when SMT acquired the smaller firm.
