Mitchell Library, Foulis Academy Prints

The Cathedral from the south

This image was produced by the Foulis Academy but the identity of the artist is not known. On the right is the rocky outcrop of the Fir Park (now occupied by the Necropolis), in the centre Glasgow Cathedral and to the left the Bishop's Castle. In the foreground is Drygate, the medieval street which ran from High Street down to the Molendinar Burn and beyond.

Labourers are harvesting crops in the foreground, on land which belonged to Esther Bargylle and Patrik Colquhoun.
