Pettigrew & Stephens Sale, 1933

Ladies' dressing gowns illustrated in a sale catalogue issued by Pettigrew & Stephens in January 1933.

Dressing gowns became fashionable in the 1930s for lounging casually at home. This was in some part due to their being worn by characters in plays written by the popular playwright Noel Coward. Hollywood movies boosted the trend.
