Back and front views of a shirt, "The International", made by Wilson, Matheson & Co, clothing manufacturers, are illustrated in the firm's wholesale and export trade list, c 1872.
The shirt department on the first floor of the warehouse at 42 Glassford Street produced a variety of dress shirts, night shirts, regatta shirts and military shirts at prices ranging from 24 to 72 shillings (£1.20-£3.60). Accessories such as collars, insertion shirt fronts, wristbands, neck ties and bow ties were sold separately.
