A detail showing the fine workmanship on the Edinburgh Gold Cup. The cup was made by Smith & Rait of Glasgow as a trophy for the 1902 Edinburgh Races and is 18 carat gold.
The Edinburgh Races were originally held on the sands at Leith but moved to Musselburgh in 1816.
