An appeal published in the Post Office Glasgow directory of 1881-1882 by the Glasgow Royal Infirmary for increased donations from the public.
The Royal was Glasgow's first voluntary hospital, built and managed with voluntary subscriptions and bequests from the public. It had introduced many improvements in patient care during the 1870s, but the costs were outstripping ordinary income and prompted this plea for additional funds.
